Macro healthcare forces impacting military and Veteran populations

A 2024 study by Optum Serve explored the lived healthcare experiences of Veterans, military service members and their families. Based on more than 250 in-person and virtual interviews, the study identifies six key challenges Veterans, service members and families face accessing the healthcare system and their earned benefits.

The challenges align with macro trends in the US healthcare system, and the findings may inform customer-centered solutions that improve access, continuity and quality of care. The research contextualizes these needs within three macro healthcare trends.
