For several years now, artificial intelligence (AI) has sparked debate about how the future workforce will adapt and change across industries. Will AI replace jobs? Will it augment them? Will it fundamentally change how value is created?
Last year, Harvard Business Review added important clarity to that debate with its article “AI Is Changing the Structure of Consulting Firms.” In it, they argue that consulting is not disappearing but is being fundamentally restructured. Traditional models are giving way to leaner, AI‑enabled delivery models where fewer people, equipped with far more powerful tools, deliver results faster and at lower cost.
For those of us in healthcare IT and digital transformation, that shift is not theoretical but already happening. It brings with it a profound reset in what health systems should expect from their consultants, their CIOs and their IT workforce.
